Above Digital delivered a comprehensive digital transformation for legendary reggae-pop band UB40, revitalising their online presence to reconnect with a global fanbase and drive commercial growth.
The brief
As one of the UK’s most successful musical exports, UB40 needed a modern platform to bridge the gap between their storied history and their latest ventures. Founding members Ali Campbell, Astro, and Mickey Virtue tasked Above Digital with creating a centralised digital hub. The primary goals were to showcase new releases and tour dates, integrate social media activity, and provide a seamless e-commerce experience for fans to purchase merchandise and music directly.
What we did
Above Digital translated the band’s iconic heritage into a stylish, responsive website design that prioritises user experience. The agency developed a refreshed visual identity using bespoke photography and video to create an authentic, intimate feel for fans. By integrating automated Spotify playlists, a YouTube media hub, and an interactive timeline, Above Digital ensured the band’s digital presence felt modern and engaging. The technical execution included secure hosting and SEO optimisation to support global traffic.
The result
The project successfully solidified the new UB40 brand, providing a unified destination for the band’s global community. By blending strategic messaging with a high-performance site, Above Digital created an environment where fans can explore the band's legacy while purchasing merchandise through a seamless e-commerce store. The platform now serves as a high-growth commercial engine and a living archive for the band’s ongoing tours.
