ebco

e-bike e-commerce website. branding.

the brief

E-bike brand EBCO tasked us with creating a bespoke e-commerce website and a fresh brand design that would ‘power up’ their business, enabling them to market and sell their e-bikes directly to both consumers and dealers more effectively.

Our challenge was to redesign their current brand, modernising it in a way that would connect it with their customer base better. The website needed to seamlessly serve as a direct sales platform for consumers and dealers alike, servicing both B2C and B2B sales.

scope & website design

We designed the bespoke e-commerce website, starting the process with a thorough wireframing phase to plan all aspects. We tailored the website design to meet the needs of both consumers and dealers alike, through carefully crafted user journeys.

The website is delivered with a contemporary design and a user-friendly interface. The website design features large-scale lifestyle imagery, bold typography, and prominent calls to action. Notable features include a dealer portal, wishlist functionality, and a dynamic dealer locator, a bespoke click-and-collect ordering process. Additionally, informative sections cater to newcomers in the e-biking world, guiding them through the site to make a purchase.

EBCO Website design scope

website build

The bespoke website build is carefully crafted on the WordPress platform, and features modules built from scratch, designed to function well on both desktop and mobile devices. Our e-commerce functionality is powered by WooCommerce, forming the basis for a customised e-commerce content management system.

This ensures the website functions precisely as needed, providing an easy-to-manage, robust platform. The site was built with their future growth in mind, creating a website that can adapt and scale as the company evolves.

branding design

We started the brand design project by delving into their product ecosystem, customer demographics, and market competition. We were able to define what made EBCO unique, and how we could potentially position them in the busy e-bike space.

Our brand strategy primarily targeted the entry-level market, whilst also catering for the more experienced riders, around EBCO’s mission to provide high-quality e-bikes that are suitable for riders of all skill levels. This insight inspired a vibrant, modern visual identity, replacing their old red and black with a modern, bright green. In addition, we planned and executed a photoshoot to showcase the product range, showing the bikes being used by typical rider types, and making it relatable to the intended audience.

steer education

branding & website design.

the brief

STEER was founded by Dr Simon and Dr Jo Walker to build a new generation of social-emotional applications to prepare young people with the human skills to thrive in life. Their groundbreaking software platform is designed to proactively safeguard young people’s mental health, and has been widely adopted by schools and educational organisations across the globe.

STEER came to us as their current website design felt out of date, its brand delivery and user experience did little to accurately reflect the quality of STEER’s offering. STEER was ready for their next phase of growth and felt ready for a brand and website overhaul.

We were briefed to assess STEER’s current website, strategising a more effective way to represent the positive impact their product offers the educational community. Our project remit was to address both the website and their overall brand delivery.

scope

A quick assessment of STEER’s current website and branding identified key some areas for us to address. It was clear that a lot more could be done to deliver the product message in a more engaging way, both through the website design, messaging and brand delivery.

We created a series of mood boards that established keywords relating to the identity and mission of the brand and along with brand perception. This exercise is hugely useful, and gives us a solid foundation on which to base all ongoing creative work on. Through a series of group sessions we developed a potential visual style, establishing a general look and feel for the site and brand direction.

During this phase we also addressed the overall site user journey, creating a series of wireframes that carefully detailed every aspect of the website structure, from initial engagement to an enquiry. The wireframes were carefully assessed and refined until we had a sitemap and site blueprint to design around.

web design and branding

Once we have completed the scoping phase we proceeded to create a beautiful, brand lead website design and used this to develop the visual identity.

We elaborated on the ‘focusing on the individual’ concept and opted to use circles as a central theme in the design, positioning them around images of the students, to represent both the safeguarding of the student and focus on the individual. The circle theme gave us a nice mechanic to tie the design together.

This concept was carried through to the rebrand, where we refined the colour palette, imagery styling, typography, brand assets and overall visual identity.

The site went through rigorous cross browser testing and best practice search engine optimization before being launched.

bespoke website. rebrand & photoshoot.

the brief

Aerocomponents are a precision engineering company based in Woodley, Reading. They have been delivering high-end precision CNC engineering services from the Berkshire-based workshop to the motorsport, military and aerospace sectors for almost 70 years.

We were asked to revamp its branding and create a new website design, to better showcase the people, services and work that the business does for its amazing client base. We met with the team to establish a brief, understand their requirements and begin planning out approach.

website design

Our top priority is enhancing the user experience in all our website design projects. We strive to create interface designs that are effective for both businesses and end users, leading them swiftly and satisfactorily from their starting point to their desired destination. To achieve this, we thoroughly investigated the business and user needs, identifying key objectives, and condensed them into page wireframes that can be interactive.

This comprehensive process is adaptable and aims to strike the perfect balance between brand design, business requirements, user journey, and technology.

The development team at Above Digital successfully brought the Aerocomponent website to life by creating a robust, responsive and user-friendly platform.

To ensure maximum control, a tailor-made content management system was integrated into the back end of the website. This empowers the client to have complete authority over all aspects of their website’s content.

Prior to launch, extensive browser compatibility testing and best practice search engine optimization were conducted in order to guarantee a seamless experience for users across different browsers and improve search engine visibility.

rebranding exercise

The current brand design felt out of date and really didn’t represent the amazing level of work that Aerocomponents delivered. So we started by putting together a set of visual mood boards and keywords to strategise an approach to modernise the brand.

Looking at the kind of industries that Aerocomponents worked with there was potential to create a brand that was more along those lines. With that in mind, we began some initial design concepts, taking influence from the themes of precision and movement.

Through a series of development stages, we refined the overall brand design, the colour palette and logo to align better with the key values of the Aerocomponenets, and its high level of service.

festival of sport

outdoor events startup. branding & website. ticketing.

the brief

The Festival of Sport is the ultimate UK family sporting weekend for 2021. The summer festival features an impressive selection of famous sporting legends and expert coaches, who are there to inspire the children and rub shoulders with the parents throughout the weekend at the scenic Holkham Hall in Norfolk. These sporting legends including Andrew Strauss, Rachael Burford, Mike Tindall and many more.

As a new business startup, Festival of Sport worked with Above Digital to define all aspects of the branding (including logo design), website design and build, ticketing and printed materials which included brochures flyers and posters. The website needed to generate excitement about the location, the sporting legends and deliver key information on the activities and entertainment. The site includes it’s own e-commerce ticketing platform, with bespoke data capture around the ticket requirements and provide QR codes that can be scanned in at the event.

The final result provided an engaging website that the Festival of Sport team could easily update themselves to promote and market the event. The event is in August and tickets are selling fast. It promises to be a memorable weekend for the whole family!

Festival of Sport wanted to handle ticket sales themselves through the website rather than using third party ticket seller. We assessed the Festival’s requirements and built a robust, secure eCommerce ticketing platform which allowed users to select the exact ticket type they wanted from a variety of options. The platform then generated an e-ticket that was sent to the customer, which contains a QR code that the Festival could use on the day via an app to easily scan, verify and log attendees digitally.

the financial services forum

membership community. marketing leaders in financial services.

the brief

The Financial Services Forum is a respected name in the financial services sector providing valuable insights, data and networking event opportunities for C-suite level individuals in the financial services marketing industry. Over the last 20 years the FSF has become a cornerstone of the industry, with members representing some of the biggest brands in the financial sector.

The previous FSF website was in much need of an overhaul, both in terms of the user experience, the content management system, and its brand delivery.

Our brief was to reorganise and redesign their current site, looking at the various membership journeys, sign up processes, gated content structures and overall brand presentation.

scoping

We completed an extensive audit of the current FSF website, mapping out the structuring of content, key user journeys, membership driving touchpoints, and collated our findings into a detailed site map and wireframes. From here we were able to work out how content could better be organised. We planned a gated system to improve the experience for existing users and increase engagement and also increase new membership sign-ups.

It is important to fully understand the requirements of any complicated, multi-faceted website like this membership site, not only from the user’s perspective but also from the client’s perspective. Taking time to learn from their gained industry experience and using this to inform a bespoke approach to the user journeys.

With that in mind, it was important during the scoping process that we met with the FSF team to discuss and refine the various aspects of the user journeys.

Multiple devices displaying the financial services forum website design three tablets displaying the financial services forum website design

membership system

An important aspect of this project was the organisation of gated (members only) and non-gated (free) content. The way in which content displays to the various member tiers was crucial in making sure the site encouraged membership sign-ups. We designed a new gating system that pushed members to either sign up if not registered or upgrade membership if they were on a lower tier. The gating system leads users through to a membership onboarding process, that integrates the organisation’s existing process.

As well as the membership aspect, the site also integrates a third-party events system, to manage networking event listings and bookings. Using FSF’s current technology meant that the migration to the new site was seamless meaning that the new site was launched, replacing the old site without any disruption for members of the FSF team.

interface design

We place the Brand and User Experience at the heart of everything we do. That way we ensure the interface design works equally well for both the business and end-user, guiding them from entry point through to destination in the quickest and most rewarding way possible! To do this we explore all business and user requirements, define the key goals and summarise via page wireframes and clickable prototypes. The whole process is scaleable and focused on providing the right blend of business requirements, brand design & messaging, user journey and technology. If we get it right then everyone is happy.

Through the FSF interface design, we were able to address brand delivery. We created a series of mood boards showing how the brand could be reimagined across the site in a more contemporary and fitting interface design. We choose a light colour palette, new key featured colours, a new font library and a more spacious delivery of content, incorporating interesting elements like a square theme to frame featured content.

We look forward to working with the Financial Services Forum team in the near future to further develop the platform and expand the site’s features.

the brief

Salvari Jewellery are an eco friendly, inspirational jewellery design business startup raising awareness of human practices that negatively impact endangered animals. We worked closely from the very start with Salvari to define their brand, visual identity and logo design across all their digital and real world assets. We also designed and built an eCommerce website to sell their jewellery as well as share powerful stories and build their community.

Above Digital built a modern, mobile responsive website that allowed users to simultaneously browse the jewellery collection while learning about the plight and partner behind each piece. We delivered the brand across inlays, cards and set up hosting, social channels and a user friendly CMS to ensure Salvari could easily add future products and posts themselves. We also optimised the website SEO and integrated all their social channels to ensure the site acted as a marketing hub for the business.

The site is now live and taking orders, so watch this space as they add to the jewellery collection and grow their active social channel following.
